Meet your host, The Bear and The Bull Garage
Our Vision is to be Southern California’s most prepared, vehicle-based adventure curator, by providing specific equipment and resources for outdoor experiences outfitted to capably explore; helping to resolve the world’s nature deficit disorder in every new outdoor experience – however large or small.
You might ask “Why these two animals?” — The Bear and The Bull Garage highlights, plays on, and seeks to satisfy, the contrast in many American lives today; where the radical concentration at work and hours spent in pursuit of our professional endeavors, amplifies our desires to disconnect and seek out domestic adventure on weekends and during vacations. Much like us, the vivid contrast in today’s U.S. society is seen through the significant investment of hours spent in stifling pursuit for achievement and career success – the “bull” persona – on one hand, and our innate, human desire for relation with nature – the “bear” persona – on the other. Embracing your own “bear” is where a relationship rooted in self-confidence can be established with nature from which much reflection, peace, and understanding can be discovered about the world and yourself; we have coined this belief as “Wild Wisdom”.
— History tells us about what The Bear and The Bull meant to us — Despite the contrast between the two, history tells of the significance in the two animals’ presence in society’s culture. When Palaeolithic paintings were discovered in caves it “revealed, when human beings finally began to draw, they drew the bull” (Grovier, 2017). Even astrological symbolism of the bull persona alludes to stamina, provision, determination, and confidence (Astrology Web, 2020). The bear alternatively, was thought of as having characteristics that some native peoples strived for including free-spiritedness and peacefulness, but an animal with courageous power and tenacity (Classen, 2019).
